The professional body responsible for standards, ethics and examiner membership in UK polygraph practice.
The British Polygraph Society is a UK membership body for polygraph examiners. The Society publishes a Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice that are binding on its members, and maintains a public directory of examiners who meet its admission criteria.
Membership is open to examiners who hold current American Polygraph Association (APA) certification and who accept the Society's Code of Ethics. Listing in the BPS directory indicates that the examiner meets these membership conditions.
The BPS does not hold a statutory or regulatory role. It is not the only organisation representing polygraph examiners in the UK, and it does not govern polygraph practice outside its own membership.

Read more →The Society operates a Corporate Supporter Scheme under which polygraph instrument manufacturers, training providers, and other commercial bodies connected to polygraph examination may support the work of the Society. Corporate Supporters are not members of the Society, have no vote, have no role in the content of the Standards of Practice or other policies, and are excluded from the Society's technical and disciplinary committees. Listing a supporter does not amount to endorsement by the Society.
No Corporate Supporters have been admitted under the Scheme. When supporters are admitted they will be listed here in accordance with the Scheme's transparency provisions.
